Terra is a non-profit organization that provides supports and services that help pregnant and parenting teens to develop self-reliance and skills to be successful parents. Terra offers a variety of programs, including: Family Outreach, Services for Young Dads, Housing through Partnerships, Literacy Programs, Mental Health Support Services, Youth Leadership Program, and more. It serves approximately 1,500 young parents and children each year.
Goals:
Make the best use of existing Wellness Committee structures
Gain deeper understandings of the major stressors identified through the survey, especially job expectation
Evaluate the lived experience of staff and stressors
Activities:
Conduct an abbreviated qualitative survey at the start and finish of the project, done by the Wellness Committee. The survey focuses on job expectations as an outcome.
Ask staff to reflect regularly in the Wellness Committee on their experience of implementing job descriptions.
Collect reflections (notes) and make available to HR.
Time frame: The project will be implemented in four months, from mid-June to mid-October, 2016.

Academic Partner: Serena Zhang Serena has a Ph.D. in strategic management and organization from University of Alberta. Her research interests lies in human resource management and organizational behavior, including transformational leadership, justice and organizational deviance. She also has years of quantitative data analysis experience using SPSS and Mplus.
